last 27 days of being 27

Someone once told me that your golden year is when your birth age and day are the same. My birthday is december 27th and I turned 27. Disappointingly this year has been pretty sucky (mostly October but the whole year didnt really pan out either..) I have actually spent more time in the last few days, more then I should probably blog about, thinking about the golden year concept. First off I would like to point out that im sorry for people born on the 1st! My poor cousin was born on the first, of April to boot, but she wears her birthday with pride (and often a stuffy nose) Second I dont want to look back on my 'Golden year' and all I see is faded bronze, so I have decided to change life's plan and make my own Goldenness appear! While trolling Pinterest (like the addict I am) I came across this blog post. I was very inspired by her compassion and selflessness. So I have decided that for the last 27 days of being 27 I would like to preform 27 random acts of kindness, one a day more if I come across a random opportunity to do one. Here is perhaps the best part of my whole concept, I would like to challenge everyone to do the same. The holiday giving season is already in the air and I would like to have you help me pass it around. There are lots of great ideas on the Internet and tomorrow I will link up to some of my favorites. In the mean time, I challenge you to open your eyes to the world around us and for the next 27 days pass on as many random acts of kindness as you possibly can!

And because I cant help by share our skipping school for the day adventure, we ditched and went and saw old st.nick!!

Im a dino your a dino

So I have been on a summer sewing kick, well let me rephrase that when my ding dongs start playing nicely I have been sneeking away to sew some projects that have been sitting in the works for awhile. I made some kids in our lives stuffed dinos, and recently had someone asked if I could make them... girly! Yeah Pink dinos! So I dug in my stash and banged a bunch out, added a few to my Etsy store and gifted a bunch to friends.
Yeasterday we also discovered these new spray parks poping up all over the place. Been fun, but not as fun as the slip and slide we bought for nanas house!

Or the berry picking we spent the weekend doing
Or the fact that one of my chilren just because a super hero
or my daughter becoming a ballerina

Sewed on a Sunday #2

So here is what I sewed today on Sunday, its a jumper/dress/shirt (She wearing things in a many different kinda ways) for my miss Brooklyn for February. Unfortunately when she tried it on it wasn't loose enough for her to wear a long sleeved shirt on underneath so I had to add some panels under the arms (a lesson well learned, measure and add extra length for the unexpected) This is the first time I have ever made a inner lining and I like it so so so much better then the other dresses I made her. Since we are out of school Monday we are going to make a trip to the craft store and see if we can find some big chunky red heart buttons to go on it!

(Look to the upper right side of the picture and you can see the toy story party stuff comming along very well!)

OH im learning how the whole link up thing works I liked up here at craft-o-maniac and Keeping it Simple so be sure to cheack over there for some great inspiration
(PS can any give me a quick lesson on how to add buttons)

What im working on wednesday!

HaHaHaHa look at me trying to be clever with the name things! Ha! I just hope it keeps me more focused and makes me more accountable for the millions of half completed projects I have sitting around. So here is what im working on:

Im currently trying to find this fabric, to complete a late Christmas gift, its an elephant pillow pet I started before Christmas but I miss measured an ear now my favorite store discontinued the line so the search continues!

Im also working on my sons 3rd birthday party goodness... now I know it might sound crazy to some since his birthday isn't until March... the 26th to be exact, but I like to have everything done just in case, so I have note books full of party ideas. Here is our invite:

Its note perfect yet but like I said a million half done projects sitting around! Then I made a birthday sign for him, using slinky dog stretched out... thinking I was cleaver I thought I would post all about my coolness.. then I saw one on Etsy.. turns out im not as cool as I thought! But at least its one less thing I have to have sitting around half done!

my update project pictures

I had a fast free moment this morning thanks to a wonderful Cousin (my BFF) who recently obtained a copy of a not yet out movie about a space man and a cowboy... so I was able to snag some much needed pictures to brag about! So here are my taggie dinos, mind you it was my first set (2 more since this) so the trex does resemble a mirr cat lol

The fabric was awesome and I scored 6 fat quarters for $3 in that pebble look and im guessing I can make about 5 sets with them! the minky on the back is really plushy and I stuffed them with stuffing that came out of a over sized Tigger that showed up after christmas with a huge hole.

Now this was a dress shirt jumper that I saw over at Made By Lex (sorry I still dont know how to link them) My only sad part is I ruffled great but pinned wrong so my button side was side way (notice picture) so I just made it the back. I also used a womans size small shirt, bad idea good thing my little lady is tiny. she loves it.

My only issue other then my side way button up lol is that I guess I dont know why my seams shoe after it was washed (note next picture)

and I mad this car mat quick for the boys, I have seen them a million times are here so im not sure who to give the props to on the one. I did use a place mat on the back to make it a little thicker and it was on $1 at joanns on clearance so go me for up cycling

triplet gifts and 4th of july

Ok since I first started this blog I have seem to have miss placed my camera... which is not good given photography is my job lol. But my kick around camera had all my step by steps on it... so let me update on my sewing adventures for you. My sister inlaw had her baby shower on June 5th, the week before I really jumped in head first. I made each baby (boy girl boy) 2 bibs, a carsseat blanket, a binky clip, a cute onesie and burp cloths... and that times 3 took forever but it was a great deadline for me.

Here is what the basket looked like:

I was very inspired by many people that craft blog and are on etsy and as soon as I figure out how to give props for all the insperation I will get on it. And I guess I should add that at the time I was exspecting our 4th kido... so there is another reason for my breif depature for here.

Fourth of July brought about my first clothing sewing lesson... again another learning lesson. I feel in love with pillow case dresses the minute I saw them... as it looks everyone with a sewing machine has! I didnt have any pillow cases that were cute so I went a looking and came across a bandana sale... so I picked up two red ones and headed home. This is what came out of that:

Ok my little Lou doesnt give it justice... it is really cute.... she is 3 and a tad on the puny side, so I think im going to try and bring the sides in a little more A framed on her so she doesnt look like she is in a bag. ;) but as you can tell she loves it (PS my work space is a work in progress, so sorry about the mess and cell phone picture)

My first project!

Well hello there blogger land! I got a sewing machine for mothers day.. lol its not as bad as it sounds! Its actually the only thing my misguided husband has gotten me that I have asked for. I decided one day that im crafty enough.. why not try to make my daughter a dress, alas i didnt even know how to sew with a needle and thread, oh what to do?! So I mentioned to him I thought I would like one, and behold there is was in all it glory, and by glory I mean it scared me lol. Everything suddenly seemed so unforgiving, so I sat and staired at it for a few days. I turned it on .. turned it off.. played with the moveable parts.. pretended like I was going to use it... Then my little lou said she wanted to go fishing. I was very tempted to pull out my pile of scrap book paper and make her a paper version but then I looked online... WOW!!!! Talk about the whole wide world! So about 12 hours of saving favorite projects from you crafty people... I decided to turn on the machine... and this is what I got! (I will plug in who I was inspired by once I figure out how to do that)

OK not best picture because it was on my cell phone... which is constantly being covered by little kid stickys, but you get the point... I got to say I they were pleased how it came out and spent the rest of the day playing over the back of the couch and off the toy boxes. I wasnt as thrilled but hey it was the first time I have ever sewn as there ya go! I have a hard time controlling speed (its sew easy to plow thru it, total pun intended!) Well anyways.. there ya go! Next project I think will be a gift for my SIL ... she is exspecting triplets! YEAh for sewing machines!
